The Attraction of The Lord of the Rings

The Lord of the Rings, one of the most successful novels of the twentieth century, is a tale of high fantasy where Tolkien's story not only brings to life a whole new world struggling with the fight against evil, but also reveals and attacks themes that resinate in the modern world. In this novel Tolkien is able to create dynamic characters that come from a variety of different races each representing a different aspect of humanity; however, all are still attracted to the lure of easy power which can be seen withe everyone's obsession with the ring. Not only is Tolkien able to tackle this but he is able to show the struggle of having multiple personalities through the character known as Gollum. Ultimately what Tolkien does best is create a level of detail in his physical description of the world drawing the reader in and making them feel as if they are there and can see everything.
